Fellowships for Visiting Faculty

PDFFaculty Fellowship Application [PDF]

The Center for Ethics and Public Affairs encourages teaching and research on ethics, moral and political philosophy, and ethical issues in public life and the professions. Its resident Fellowships support outstanding teachers and scholars who wish to develop their ability to address pressing questions in these fields.

Activities

Fellows contribute to, and participate in, a twice monthly Faculty Seminar organized by the Center and have the opportunity to participate wide variety of academic events both at Tulane and the Murphy Institute. A significant part of their time, however, is devoted to conducting their own research.

Eligibility

Fellows are selected by external reviewers and members of the Center’s Faculty Committee. Applicants are judged on the basis of the quality of achievements in their field of specialization and ability to benefit from work in the Center; the contributions they are likely to make in the future through teaching and writing; and the probable significance of their proposed research and its relevance to the purpose of the Center. Applicants should hold a doctorate in philosophy, political theory, history, economics or related disciplines; or an advanced professional degree. Preference will be given to applicants at an early stage of their careers, normally no more than ten years from the terminal degree in their field. Applicants ordinarily should hold a college or university faculty appointment at the time of application. Center Faculty Fellowships are open to all faculty regardless of citizenship.
