About the Speaker

Steven Kuhn is Professor of Philosophy and an associated faculty member in the Department of Linguistics at Georgetown University. He has worked in the areas of modal and tense logic, reasoning in ordinary language, the division between logic and theory, time and tense, indirect contractarian theories of ethics, and applications of game theory in moral philosophy. He is author of the two-volume Many-sorted Modal Logics (Philosophical Studies #29, Uppsala, Sweden, 1977) as well as numerous articles in journals including Synthese, Mind, Philosophy and Economics, the Journal of Philosophy, the Journal of Philosophical Logic, and Studia Logica.

Professor Kuhn has held fellowships at the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities at the University of Edinburgh, and at the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at the University of Tübingen.
