About the Speaker

Malachi Haim Hacohen (Ph.D. Columbia University) is Associate Professor of History, Political Science, and Religion and a Bass Fellow at Duke University. His book, Karl Popper — The Formative Years, 1902-1945 (New York: Cambridge University Press, 2000), has won the Victor Adler Austrian State Prize and the Herbert Baxter Adams Prize of the American Historical Association for the best book in European history. He is presently a fellow at the Center for Advanced Studies in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University.

Professor Hacohen is currently working on two projects: “Jacob and Esau: Jewish Emancipation and the Dilemmas of Multiculturalism and Ethnonationalism” and “Dilemmas of Liberalism: The Congress for Cultural Freedom and the Cultural Cold War.”
