About the Speaker

Michael Zuckert, Nancy Reeves Dreux Professor of Political Science at the University of Notre Dame, works in political philosophy, American constitutional law and theory, and American political thought. Professor Zuckert’s books include Natural Rights and the New Republicanism (Princeton University Press, 1994), The Natural Rights Republic (University of Notre Dame Press), which was named an outstanding book for 1997 by Choice magazine, and Launching Liberalism: On Lockean Political Philosophy (University of Kansas Press, 2002). Another book, Completing the Constitution: The Post-Civil War Amendments, is forthcoming from the University of Kansas Press. Professor Zuckert is the recipient of grants from the National Endowment for the Humanaities, the Woodrow Wilson Center, the Earhart Foundation, and National Science Foundation.
