About the Speaker

Mary Clayton Coleman is Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Illinois Wesleyan University and a 2012-13 faculty fellow in the Center for Ethics and Public Affairs. Her primary research interests are in ethics, philosophy of action, and metaphysics. Her published and ongoing research is about the prospects of constructivist theories of practical reason and about the role of rationality in motivation. She is the author of numerous articles and reviews which have appeared in journals such as Ethics and the Australasian Journal of Philosophy.
