About the Speaker

Dennis F. Thompson is Alfred North Whitehead Professor of Political Philosophy and the founding director of the Edmund J. Safra Foundation Center for Ethics at Harvard University. He also holds appointments in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and in the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. Among his books are Restoring Responsibility: Ethics in Government, Business and Healthcare; Just Elections: Creating a Fair Electoral Process in the United States; Democracy & Disagreement, coauthored with Amy Gutmann; Political Ethics and Public Office; and Ethics in Congress: From Individual to Institutional Corruption. His articles on the ethics of business, law, medicine, and education have appeared in leading journals in those fields.
