About the Speaker
Jay Shimshack is Associate Professor of Economics at Tulane University and Director of the Program for Responsible Regulation at the Murphy Institute. He holds a Ph.D. from U.C. Berkeley and a B.S. from Cornell University. His major fields are environmental regulation, environmental economics, and applied microeconomics and policy. Specific research interests include the monitoring and enforcement of environmental laws; corporate social responsibility; information, transparency, and advisories; and environmental health. His work has been published in the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, the Journal of Health Economics, the Journal of Economic Literature, Economic Inquiry, and elsewhere. At Tulane, Shimshack teaches environmental economics, statistics, microeconomics, and the law and economics of compliance.
