About the Speaker
R. Jay Wallace is Professor of Philosophy and Judy Chandler Webb Distinguished Chair for Innovative Teaching and Research at the University of California, Berkeley. His research takes place within the field of moral philosophy and focuses specifically on problems relating to moral responsibility, moral psychology, and the theory of practical reason. He is the author of three books, including the highly influential, Responsibility and the Moral Sentiments (Harvard University Press, 1998) and the editor of five edited volumes. He has also published over fifty scholarly articles which have appeared in highly regarded journals such as Ethics, Philosophy and Public Affairs, Mind, and Philosophy and Phenomenological Research. Professor Wallace received his Ph.D. from Princeton University in 1988.
