About the Speaker
Richard Dien Winfield is Distinguished Research Professor at the University of Georgia. He earned his Ph.D. from Yale University in 1977, and his research interests include Ethics, Aesthetics, Metaphysics, Philosophy of Mind, and the work of Hegel. Professor Winfield is the author or editor of eighteen books, which include, Freedom and Modernity (SUNY Press, 1991), Hegel and Mind: Rethinking Philosophical Psychology (Palgrave Macmillan, 2010), and, most recently, Hegel and the Future of Systematic Philosophy (Palgrave Macmillan, 2014). In addition to his books, Professor Winfield has published over sixty chapters in books and articles in academic journals.
