Lisa Singleton

Lisa Singleton is a Ph.D. candidate in Latin American history at Tulane University. She also maintains a strong interest in public history and has been affiliated with the Chicago Historical Society, Smithsonian Institution, and UNESCO’s World Heritage Centre.
Ms. Singleton is currently working on a dissertation manuscript, “Luck and the Federal Purse: the Mexican National Lottery, 1800-1910,” which has been awarded a Fulbright research grant. Her article, “For Revolutionaries and Rum: A Preliminary Study on Museum History and Structure in Cuba,” was recently published as a feature article in Museum History Journal. In addition to conferences and publications, Ms. Singleton has spent time learning Kaqchikel Maya through the U.S. Department of Education’s FLAS program.
