The Murphy Institute

INSTEP Study Abroad Programs

Since 1989, the Murphy Institute’s affiliation with the Institute of Economic and Political Studies (INSTEP) has provided Tulane undergraduates academic semester and summer study abroad experiences that develop a Instep contemporary European perspective on economics, business, law, and international relations. INSTEP has been offering semester and summer study abroad programs in London and Cambridge, England, since 1979.

Classes are taught in small groups of students in traditionally British seminars or supervisions for which Tulane students can receive graded, academic credit for their degree program. Students attending INSTEP choose from two centers: the academic setting of Cambridge or the cosmopolitan environment of central London. Political Economy majors attending INSTEP may also pursue internships designed to round out the professional aspects of the academic program. Some internships may be eligible for satisfying the second-tier public service graduation requirement. The academic aspects of the program are administered by Dr. John Howard, Associate Director of the Murphy Institute and Professor-in-Charge, INSTEP.

Availability of internships varies from semester to semester and all placements are made on an individual basis. For more information, please visit The Institute of Economic and Political Studies.
