In an intimate conversation with Executive Director Gary "Hoov" Hoover, Dr. Mona discussed her community-partnered public health initiatives in response to the Flint water crisis to improve outcomes for kids, Rx Kids.

The Murphy Institute’s Center for Ethics welcomed Dr. Carl Hart as the featured speaker for the first installment of 2025-2026’s Public Lecture Series. Dr. Carl Hart is the Mamie Phipps Clark Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychology at Columbia University, with a joint appointment in Psychiatry. A leading neuroscientist and psychologist, his research explores the behavioral and neuropharmacological effects of psychoactive drugs in humans. His work challenges conventional narratives around addiction and advocates for evidence-based drug policy reform.

On February 3, the State of the Nation Project released its inaugural "State of the Nation" report to shed light on how the United States is doing in key areas. The report’s launch event in Washington DC, co-hosted by The Murphy Institute, The Brookings Institution, and the American Enterprise Institute, provided attendees with the opportunity to engage with the authors of the report as they discussed the findings of the State of the Nation Project, the challenges facing the nation, and progress made so far.
