Ulrike Heuer

Ulrike Heuer is Lecturer in Philosophy at the University of Leeds. She earned her bachelor’s degree in philosophy, art history, and German literature from the Free University of Berlin in 1983 and her master’s degree in philosophy and German literature from the Free University in 1990. She completed her doctorate in philosophy at the Free University in 1998. She has taught philosophy at Columbia University and at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Heuer’s research interests lie in theoretical ethics, especially value theory, theories of practical reasons, moral psychology, and normative ethics. Her recent publications include “Reasons for Actions and Desires,” Philosophical Studies (2004); “Raz on Values and Reasons” in P. Pettit, S. Scheffler, M. Smith, J. Wallace (eds.), Reason and Value: Themes from the Moral Philosophy of Joseph Raz (Oxford University Press, 2004).
