About the Speaker
Richard Eldridge is Charles and Harriett Cox McDowell Professor of Philosophy at Swarthmore College. His research specialties are in aesthetics, philosophy of literature, philosophy of language, and German idealism. He has published ten books and over eighty articles which have appeared in a number of highly regarded academic journals. Additionally, he has been the recipient of several prestigious awards and fellowships throughout his career from institutions such as the Stanford Humanities Center and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Professor Eldridge received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1981.
