Biography
Jennifer Hawkins is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Duke University and a 2023 – 2024 Faculty Fellow at the Center for Ethics. Professor Hawkins research primarily focuses on well-being, happiness, theories of emotion and practical reason, and notions of self.
Hawkins current book, Faring Well: A Theory of Well-Being is currently under contract with Oxford University Press. Professor Hawkins also co-edited Exploitation and Developing Countries: The Ethics of Clinical Research, published by Princeton University Press in 2008, which reflects on the meaning of exploitation, specifically in reference to clinical research in developing countries and what steps can be taken to minimize such circumstances. Hawkins has also published her work in top-rated journals, including Ethics, Utilitas, and Philosophical Quarterly.
