Center for Ethics Welcomes New Faculty and Graduate Fellows for Fall 2025
The Center for Ethics (CE) is thrilled to announce its incoming cohort of Faculty and Graduate Fellows for the 2025-2026 academic year. These distinguished scholars will bring fresh perspectives and expertise to the Center's mission of fostering ethical inquiry.
CE Faculty Fellows are visiting faculty from renowned institutions whose teaching and research delve into ethics, political and social philosophy, moral psychology, and questions of moral choice in various fields. CE Graduate Fellows are outstanding Tulane doctoral students crafting dissertations on ethical questions that bridge disciplinary boundaries.
Meet Our New Faculty Fellows
- Elvira Basevich, an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at UC-Davis, focuses on political philosophy, Africana philosophy, and late modern German philosophy, including Kant, Hegel, and Marx.
- Eric Schliesser, a Professor of Political Science at the University of Amsterdam, brings a wide-ranging research portfolio, from economic statistics in classical Babylon to 18th-century feminists and assumptions in mathematical economics.
Introducing Our New Graduate Fellows
- Jeffrey Colgan (Philosophy) will explore "The Limits of Language and Philosophy" in his dissertation, with interests spanning ethics, philosophy of language, and ancient to Buddhist philosophy.
- Joseph M. Keegin (Philosophy), also a contributing editor at The Point Magazine, will examine "Hegel's Critiques of Morality."
- Darcy Roake (History), a Unitarian Universalist Minister, focuses on reproductive health and justice movements, with her dissertation tracing the history of RU-486.
- Mathias Schwab-Garbizu (French and Italian) will investigate how teaching oral skills can serve as an instrument for social justice, with research interests including critical sociolinguistics and French in Louisiana.
- Chen Wang (Philosophy) will delve into "What We Owe Each Other in Chains of Contempt," with research areas in existentialism, ethics, and moral psychology.
