Biography

Jason Byas is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy and The Murphy Institute's Center for Ethics. He received a B.A. in Philosophy and Sociology from the University of Oklahoma, an M.A. in Philosophy from Georgia State University, and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Michigan. His main line of research focuses on criminal punishment and its alternatives, but he has also published on topics such as reparations, political economy, war, and philosophical issues surrounding political action. Prior to coming to Tulane, he was a Junior Faculty Fellow at Georgetown University, affiliated with the Georgetown Institute for the Study of Markets & Ethics.
