Suzy Killmister

Biography

Suzy Killmister is Assistant Professor of Philosophy and holds a joint appointment in the Human Rights Institute at the University of Connecticut. Professor Killmister received her Ph.D. from the University of Melbourne in 2010. Her primary areas of research are social and political philosophy, ethics, and action theory, and her recent work has focused on the concept of dignity and the relationship between dignity and human rights. Professor Killmister’s work has appeared in a variety of prestigious scholarly journals and collected volumes, including Philosophical Studies and Nous. During her tenure at the Murphy Institute, she will be working on a project titled, “Taking the Measure of Autonomy.”

The Murphy Institute

Established in memory of Charles H. Murphy, Sr. (1870-1954), and inspired by the vision of Charles H. Murphy, Jr. (1920-2002), The Murphy Institute exists to help Tulane faculty and students understand economic, moral, and political problems we all face and think about. More important, it exists to help us understand how these problems have come to be so closely interconnected.
