Bayou Classic to add economic impact to Thanksgiving weekend in New Orleans

The Bayou Classic, a marquee event celebrating Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), returns to New Orleans for its 51st year, promising a weekend packed with football, culture, and tradition.

Presented by Procter & Gamble, the Bayou Classic will feature a series of events culminating in the storied gridiron rivalry between Grambling State University and Southern University on Saturday at the Caesars Superdome.

The Bayou Classic, first held in 1974, draws more than 250,000 visitors annually to New Orleans and generates an estimated $26.5 million in economic impact for Louisiana.

The game, which pits the Southern Jaguars against the Grambling Tigers, is the largest HBCU football classic in the United States, drawing over 64,000 fans in recent years. Southern leads the all-time series with 26 wins to Grambling’s 24.
