Call For Proposals: Funding Opportunities for Tulane Faculty and Researchers
The Murphy Institute is pleased to share funding opportunities for Tulane faculty and researchers that advance scholarship in political economy.
These resources provide opportunities for intellectual interaction and development within the Tulane community—from seeding new research to facilitating collaborations with external scholars—and are open to faculty and researchers from all schools and departments across Tulane.
CPPR Postdoctoral Scholars Program
The Center for Public Policy Research’s (CPPR) Postdoctoral Scholars Program is founded on The Murphy Institute’s commitment to building an exceptional intellectual community and advancing careers in political economy. The program aims to attract and support promising young scholars and is open to Tulane faculty from all areas of study. It provides up to two years of support for scholars engaged in full-time research and writing. Each scholar works under the mentorship of a Tulane faculty member. This is a full-time salaried position.
Submit proposals to murphy@tulane.edu with the subject line "CPPR Postdoc Funding." Priority will be given to proposals that were received by November 15; the final deadline to apply is February 1, 2026.
Guest Scholars Program
Through the Guest Scholars Program, CPPR seeks to engage with academics and researchers across Tulane’s campus and provide a platform for leading scholars in political economy to share their expertise and perspectives on the forces shaping contemporary policy discourse. This initiative invites distinguished scholars from outside Tulane University to visit New Orleans for one to two weeks and collaborate with Tulane researchers on political economy scholarship.
Proposals are welcome from Tulane faculty in any school or department. Email submissions to murphy@tulane.edu with the subject line “Guest Scholar Proposal”. Awards will be made on a rolling basis. Research topics will be prioritized based on their relation to political economy.
Center for Ethics Faculty Fellowship
The Center for Ethics (CE) invites applications for three Faculty Fellowships for the 2026-2027 academic year. These fellowships are available to support outstanding faculty whose teaching and research focus on ethics; political and social philosophy; moral psychology, agency and responsibility; philosophy of law; political theory; or questions of moral choice in areas such as (but not restricted to) business, government, law, economics, public health and medicine.
Fellows are appointed as Visiting Research Professors at Tulane University’s Murphy Institute. They spend a year in residence at Tulane, conducting their own research while participating in CE seminars, lectures, and conferences, and engaging in the intellectual life of The Murphy Institute. The application for the 2026-2027 Visiting Faculty Fellowship is now open. The deadline to apply is December 15, 2025.
Seed Grants
CPPR offers seed grants of up to $3,000 to encourage both interdisciplinary connections on campus and the development of external research grant proposals by Tulane faculty and researchers. These funds are intended to initiate new research, help move current projects forward, and assist researchers in cultivating a base of external funding that will support their work over the long term. Proposals are welcome from Tulane faculty and researchers in all areas of study. Submissions received after the priority deadline of November 15 will be considered if funding remains available.
Sponsored Access to Restricted U.S. Census Data for Tulane Researchers
CPPR sponsors access to restricted U.S. Census data for any qualified Tulane researcher through the Atlanta Research Data Center (ARDC). Located at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, the ARDC is part of a network of secure computing labs where researchers can access confidential economic, demographic, and public health microdata from a variety of federal agencies. With CPPR sponsorship, this access includes proposal development, obtaining Special Sworn Status, project management, and using the secure lab facility itself.
We encourage all interested Tulane faculty and researchers to review the opportunities above and submit proposals according to the stated deadlines and guidelines.
