About The Speaker
W. Kip Viscusi is University Distinguished Professor of Law and Economics at Vanderbilt University. Professor Viscusi holds appointments in the law school, the department of economics, and the Owen Graduate School of Management. He has also held positions at Harvard University, Duke University, Northwestern University, and the University of Chicago.
Professor Viscusi is the author of more than 20 books and 250 articles. His most recent book is the 4th edition of Economics of Regulation and Antitrust (MIT Press, 2005). He has also recently published a book entitled, Smoke-Filled Rooms: A Postmortem on the Tobacco Deal (Univ. of Chicago Press, 2002). He is an internationally recognized authority on health and safety risk management, and individual, social, and governmental decision-making under conditions of risk and uncertainty. He is also the author of Fatal Tradeoffs: Public and Private Responsibilities for Risk (Oxford University Press, 1995) which won the American Risk and Insurance Association Kulp/Wright Book Award.
