More Information

As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, what do our founding ideals demand of government today? Join Gary "Hoov" Hoover (Executive Director of The Murphy Institute) and Marc J. Dunkelman for a timely conversation on the evolving role of public institutions in American life.

Moderated by Nicholas Lemann, this panel examines the bridge between the framers' original vision and our modern-day civic challenges. The discussion will explore whether government can still act as an engine for opportunity and innovation in a divided era, or if public skepticism has fundamentally outpaced trust. Drawing on economic insight and political history, the speakers will consider what effective governance looks like as we navigate the promises of the American experiment.
