Event Description

Each year, the Center for Ethics invites distinguished academics to present their current work at the Center for Ethics Speaker Series. Since 2001, the Center for Ethics has hosted more than 200 guest speakers. The Center for Ethics public lectures are free and open to all members of the Tulane community as well as the general public. 

Subramanian Rangan is a Professor of Strategy and Management, and The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court Endowed Chair in Societal Progress at INSEAD, the global business school founded in Fountainebleau, France.

Professor Rangan earned his MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management and his PhD in political economy from Harvard University. His research explores the evolution of capitalism and how enterprises and all economic actors may better integrate performance and progress. In 2013 he initiated the Society for Progress, a fellowship of eminent philosophers, social scientists, and business leaders. He was associate editor of the Global Strategy Journal; chair of the World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Council on Emerging Multinationals; and a member of the board of trustees of Fundação Dom Cabral, a leading business in Brazil. 

Rangan's first book, Performance and Progress: Essays on Capitalism, Business, and Society, was published by Oxford University Press, 2015. His second book, Capitalism Beyond Mutuality? Perspectives Integrating Philosophy and Social Science, was also published by Oxford University Press in 2018. Professor Rangan has also published in top-rated journals, such as the Journal of International Business Studies, the Journal of International Management, and Administrative Science Quarterly.
