About The Speaker
Barbara H. Fried, is William W. and Gertrude H. Saunders Professor of Law at Stanford University. Her scholarly interests lie at the intersection of law, economics, and philosophy. She has written extensively on questions of distributive justice and in the areas of tax policy, property theory, and political theory. Professor Fried is a three-time winner of the John Bingham Hurlbut Award for Excellence in Teaching. She is the author of The Progressive Assault on Laissez Faire: Robert Hale and the First Law and Economics Movement (Harvard, 1998) as well as several scholarly articles appearing in such venues as Harvard Law Review, Philosophy and Public Affairs, and The Journal of Ethics.
