About The Speaker
Mark Schroeder, Professor of Philosophy at the University of Southern California, earned his Ph.D. from Princeton University in 2004. His primary research interest is in the field of metaethics, but his work also focuses on important questions in a number of other fields, such as epistemology, metaphysics, normative ethics, practical reason, and the philosophy of language. He is the author of five books, including, most recently, Explanation and Expression in Ethics, Volumes 1 and 2 (Oxford University Press, 2014, Forthcoming). Additionally, he has published over fifty articles and book chapters, many of which have appeared in prestigious journals such as Philosophical Review, Philosophy and Phenomenological Research, and Philosophical Studies. Professor Schroeder has also been the recipient of several awards including the Advancing Scholarship in the Humanities and Social Sciences Award and a fellowship from the National Endowment for Humanities.
