Public Policy Working Group: Mashfiqur Khan

Mashfiqur Khan, a postdoctoral fellow at the Murphy Institute and Department of Economics, is an applied microeconomist with primary interests in labor economics and economics of aging. He received his Ph.D. in economics at Boston College in 2017 and, as a Fulbright Fellow, received an M.A. in economics at the New York University in 2010. His research is broadly focused on analyzing the interactions among old age labor supply, health, and the Social Security system in the United States. His recent work looks at applicants who were denied Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and examines their economic outcomes in the short-run. Specifically, he is interested in estimating the effects on post-application labor supply and composition of household earnings of denied SSDI applicants.
