Join an informal session with Dr. Debra Houry, distinguished Tulane alumna, former Chief Medical Officer at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and current Yale faculty member—for a direct conversation with Tulane students.

As part of her visit to Tulane University for the 2026 Mary C. Parker Yates Lecture, Dr. Debra Houry will host an informal student meet-and-greet that offers students from all schools a unique opportunity to connect directly with Dr. Houry in a conversational setting. Participants are welcome to discuss her extensive career spanning frontline emergency medicine, high-level federal leadership at the CDC, and public health advocacy, as well as gain firsthand insights into careers in public health policy and scientific integrity.

Dr. Houry will also deliver the main Mary C. Parker Yates Lecture later this day at 4:00 PM in the Qatar Ballroom in the LBC. Dr. Houry Houry is a renowned leader in public health, emergency medicine, and scientific integrity. A proud double alumna of the Tulane University School of Medicine and the Celia Scott Weatherhead School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, she most recently served as the Chief Medical Officer and Deputy Director for Program and Science at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In her federal roles, she was a primary architect of national health strategies and led critical responses to the opioid epidemic. She currently serves as a Senior Medical Advisor for the California Public Health Network Innovation Exchange (PHNIX) and as a Lecturer and Senior Fellow at the Yale School of Public Health.
