Tulane students support local high schools through the Applied Ethics course (PHIL 3930) and a Public Service Internship, working directly with high school students and faculty for local High School Ethics Bowl competitions held on Tulane’s campus.
TUEB Public Service Interns and service-learners enrolled in PHIL 3939, Applied Ethics, plan and facilitate weekly club meetings at each school. These meetings prepare high school students to compete in two to three Ethics Bowl tournaments hosted by the Center for Ethics each semester on Tulane’s Uptown Campus.
The primary goal of TUEB’s High School Ethics Bowl program is to foster positive connections between Tulane and the broader New Orleans community. TUEB serves as a bridge, connecting local high school and college students to Tulane’s resources and community. It teaches the value of communication, togetherness, and open-mindedness. Most importantly, this community encourages students to consider ethical issues together, as fellow citizens in a complex moral and political landscape.
