Biography

Jonathan Quong received his doctorate in political philosophy from the University of Oxford and is a faculty member in Politics at the University of Manchester in the UK. He has recently published or forthcoming papers in Journal of Applied Philosophy; Journal of Political Philosophy; and Politics, Philosophy & Economics. His current research project is a book which defends political liberalism and shows how this theory can be applied to controversial contemporary issues such as the problem of fundamentalist groups, cultural exemptions from generally applicable laws, and what we owe to the least-advantaged members of society.

The Murphy Institute

Established in memory of Charles H. Murphy, Sr. (1870-1954), and inspired by the vision of Charles H. Murphy, Jr. (1920-2002), The Murphy Institute exists to help Tulane faculty and students understand economic, moral, and political problems we all face and think about. More important, it exists to help us understand how these problems have come to be so closely interconnected.
