Launched by the Center for Ethics (CE) in 2023, Tulane University’s Ethics Bowl Program (TUEB) is a high school and college competition where teams tackle difficult ethical issues in a competitive setting. Students are coached to view matches as exchanges between equals, engaging in deep conversations about tough moral issues.
Unlike traditional debates, Ethics Bowl encourages a collaborative format where teams consider complex issues and defend a position they believe to be reasonable. The program promotes respectful, supportive, and rigorous discussions centered around cases relevant to our time.
Ways to Participate
Tulane students can join the Ethics Bowl team which competes in the Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl regionals in Texas each fall and hosts events like the Spring 2024 open-entry tournament with a cash prize. |
Tulane students can support local high school teams through the Applied Ethics course (PHIL 3930) and a Public Service Internship, working directly with high school students and teachers for local competitions held on Tulane’s campus. |
