The annual PPE conference supports the journal PPE: Politics, Economics, and Philosophy. Papers presented at the conference are published in the journal, subject to anonymous peer review. Published by Sage Publications in association with The Murphy Institute, the journal is co-edited by Murphy Institute faculty member Jonathan Riley, a founding editor of the journal.
Organized by Caroline Arruda, these seminars are a series of workshops where CEPA Faculty Fellows and distinguished guest speakers present works in progress on ethics, political philosophy, political theory, moral psychology, the philosophy of law, and intellectual history. Papers are distributed one week beforehand to the participants who read the paper and prepare discussion questions for the presenter.
Each year, the Center for Ethics and Public Affairs invites distinguished academics to present their current work at the Center for Ethics Speaker Series. Since 2001, the Center for Ethics has hosted more than 200 guest speakers.
New Orleans Workshop on Agency and Responsibility (NOWAR) is a biennial workshop featuring the presentation of sophisticated original research on issues roughly captured under the label “agency and responsibility.” David Shoemaker founded the workshop in 2011 when he held a professorship at The Murphy Institute. Now a professor at Cornell University, he continues to organize the workshop.
