About The Speaker

George Sher received his Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1972 and is currently the Herbert S. Autrey Professor of Philosophy at Rice University. His research focuses primarily on issues of responsibility and distributive justice. He is the author of six books, including In Praise of Blame (Oxford University Press, 2005), Who Knew? Responsibility without Awareness (Oxford University Press, 2009), and, most recently, Equality for Inegalitarians (Cambridge University Press, 2014). Additionally, he has published over fifty articles in such highly reputable academic journals as Journal of Philosophy, Mind, Philosophy and Public Affairs, and Ethics.
