About The Speaker

Gwen Bradford, Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Rice University, and 2013-2014 Center for Ethics and Public Affairs Faculty Fellow, earned her doctorate from Yale University in 2010. Her work is in ethics and value theory, and the central focus of her research is to investigate the nature of achievements and what makes them valuable. She also pursues interests in normative ethics, the history of moral philosophy, philosophy of sports, and epistemology. She is the author of several articles in scholarly journals and has work forthcoming in The Bloomsbury Encyclopedia of Utilitarianism and Oxford Studies in Normative Ethics. In 2012-2013, she was a Faculty Fellow at the Rice University Center for Humanities, where she completed work for her forthcoming book, which develops an analysis of achievements.
