About The Speaker
Samuel Scheffler is University Professor of Philosophy at New York University. His research focuses primarily on issues in moral and political philosophy, and he is the author of five books, including, Human Morality (Oxford University Press, 1992), Equality and Tradition (Oxford University Press, 2010), and, most recently, Death and the Afterlife (Oxford University Press, 2013). His work has also appeared in many highly reputable academic journals, such as Philosophy and Public Affairs, Ethics, and Journal of Political Philosophy. Professor Scheffler earned his Ph.D. from Princeton University and has been the recipient of both Guggenheim and NEH fellowships.
