CEPA Seminar: Michael Gillespie

Michael Gillespie is a Professor of Philosophy and Political Science at Duke University. Professor Gillespie’s research is in political philosophy with a particular emphasis on modern continental theory and the history of political philosophy. He is the author of Hegel, Heidegger, and the Ground of History  (University of Chicago Press, 1984), Nihilism before Nietzsche (University of Chicago Press, 1994), The Theological Origins of Modernity (University of Chicago Press, 2008), and Nietzsche’s Final Teachings(University of Chicago Press, 2017).

Political Economy of Corruption Conference

The Murphy Institute and the Institute for Corruption Studies will host the fourth Political Economy of Corruption conference on May 5th and 6th, 2023. The workshop will feature papers on corruption and growth; the relationship between corruption, income inequality, and poverty; corruption and racial inequities; the effects of corruption on institutional quality; and more. Conference papers will contribute to a special issue of Southern Economic Journal.  

CEPA Seminar: Carmen Pavel

Carmen Pavel is Associate Professor (Reader) in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at Kings College, London, and a 2022 – 2023 Faculty Fellow at the Center for Ethics and Public Affairs. Professor Pavel’s research primarily focuses on international justice and international law, liberal theory and contemporary changes to it, and ethics and public policy.
