About The Speaker

Jason Hanna is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Northern Illinois University and is one of the 2015-16 CEPA Faculty Fellows. Specializing in normative and applied ethics, his recent research has focused on examining deontological constraints on harming, and his current research project aims to provide a more-or-less unqualified defense of paternalistic intervention.

About The Speaker

Paul Hurley is Edward J. Sexton Professor of Philosophy at Claremont McKenna College and 2016-17 CEPA Faculty Fellow. His research focuses on issues in both ethics and metaethics, and his work has appeared in a number of highly regarded scholarly journals, including Ethics, Mind, Philosopher’s Imprint, and Philosophical Studies. He is the author of Beyond Consequentialism which was published by Oxford University Press in 2009.
