Patrick Testa

Patrick Testa is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Tulane University. His current research focuses on the political economy of development. He uses a combination of microeconomic theory and empirical methods, utilizing both contemporary and historical data. His recent work seeks to understand the urban and regional effects of forced migration, as well as how institutions and culture interact with economic geography. 

Luca Fumarco

Luca Fumarco is a postdoctoral fellow at the Murphy Institute and Department of Economics at Tulane University. He received his Ph.D. in economics from Linnaeus University in 2015. Prior to coming to Tulane, he worked at the research division of the national statistical institute of Luxembourg, STATEC Research. His research focuses on labor and education economics, and investigates two broad topics: discrimination in the marketplace, and effects of within-cohort age differences on well-being, education, and labor outcomes.

Matthias Kasper

Matthias Kasper is a 2018-2020 Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Economics. He received a Ph.D. in International Business Taxation from Vienna University of Economics and Business in 2016. Prior to joining Tulane, he worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Applied Psychology at the University of Vienna. His research investigates determinants of tax compliance behavior. He currently studies how complicated tax laws, enforcement, and the provision of services affect compliance.
